This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Kevin Javon Francis, a remarkable advocate and beloved sickle cell warrior. Despite facing numerous hardships and setbacks due to his illness, Kevin’s unwavering tenacity led him to pursue education admirably. Sadly, he passed away in 2011 at the age of 23. Kevin’s determination to earn a degree in the face of sickle cell disease did not go unnoticed. To continue his legacy, the Kevin J. Francis Memorial Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to sickle cell warriors pursuing higher education. By supporting their academic endeavors, we hope to empower these individuals to overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals. We will be awarding 7 sickle cell warriors scholarships at this luncheon as well as recognizing our service heroes. |
